Our new home in Woodburn, IL

We had a HUGE storm come thru Tuesday. In St. Louis, we probably had an inch of sleet when it finally turned to snow. It was just barely snowing when I went out around 4 pm to shovel the sidewalk. We had maybe 3”, but it was windy, so the snow was drifting to about 5-6”. By the time I finished shoveling, some of the areas had already been covered back up.

I finally made it back to Bunker Hill this morning. The roads were fine on the way here. At lunch I went out to the property, and that road was a different story. There were a number of areas that were still covered in packed snow. At the property I didn’t attempt to drive up the driveway. I parked just past the mailbox and walked up to the house to make sure everything was ok. It was fine, of course.

We finally got the contract revised for the trailer, and I took it to the bank. We had hoped to get the trailer delivered this week, but it doesn’t look like that’ll happen. We couldn’t get in touch with anybody at the trailer place until today. We’re pretty sure they were closed, because I heard on the news that Springfield got 15” of snow!

It was 9 degrees when I left home this morning. It’s currently 12.

We finally came to an agreement with the trailer dealer. We have a contract, but we haven’t signed it yet. There was one small thing that we wanted to change, and the lady agreed to it yesterday, but she hasn’t sent us the amended contract. I talked to the bank on Friday, and they said financing would be no problem once we brought them a copy of our contract. The dealer told us that if we could get our financing worked out at the beginning of the week, they could deliver the trailer at the end of the week! Weather permitting, of course. I’m not holding my breath that we’ll have it here this week, but it looks likely in the next week or two.

We spent Saturday at the property clearing out the space for the trailer. We were completely wiped out by the time we got home Saturday night. Yesterday we spent the day doing as little as possible and complaining every time we got up because we were sore all over.

We’re supposed to have a big winter storm move thru here tonight. They’re predicting 4-6” of snow in St. Louis and 6-9” in Bunker Hill!

We met with the trailer lady Tuesday. She’s checking on some numbers for us, and hopefully we’ll have an arrangement in the next day or two. Now all we need is a couple of weekends with decent weather so we can finish removing some brush and get the footings in the ground for the trailer. It’s supposed to be really cold this weekend, so I doubt we’ll be able to do anything then. We got a couple of inches of snow here last night - just enough to make everything look pretty.
